Easy Fall To Christmas Coffee Table Arrangements

When creating Fall to Christmas coffee table arrangements, there is no need to break the bank or reinvent the wheel. However, apparently, it is necessary to use a lot of idioms–but I digress. I start my coffee table arrangements with a shallow bowl. I love this black openwork metal bowl, but a dough bowl would also be perfect for both of these designs.

Greens of some kind are the foundation of both compositions.

Fall Arrangement

For Fall, I used a faux garland of green oak leaves, and acorns wound in a circle.

On top of the garland, I placed three small white pumpkins and these weird red seed pod balls I purchased from a design boutique years ago. I have never seen these particular spheres anywhere else, but red wood curl ornaments would be a good substitution.

Christmas Arrangement

The Christmas version starts with fresh cedar and boxwood I cut from my yard.

I used the same red seed pod balls from my Fall arrangement. But I swapped out the pumpkins for three giant Coulter pine cones that I bought from a great home design store, called The Summer House on our recent getaway to Highlands, NC. Coulter pine cones are not from North Carolina but rather, are native to the coastal mountains of Southern California. They are the largest and heaviest pine cones of any pine tree. They range in size from 5 to 11 lbs. and 8 to 15″ long. Because of their size and heft, these pine cones are called “Widowmakers,” by forestry workers who have to wear hardhats when working around Coulter Pines. They are humongous, and they are awesome!

Small ordinary pine cones from my yard complete the Christmas arrangement.

I was trying to think of an idiom to conclude this Easy Fall To Christmas Coffee Table Arrangements post and I first thought of two seasonal arrangements one bowl, you know, like two birds one stone. But I don’t think that really works, so how about all’s well that ends well!
